Jerry Lewis has brought a lot of joy into my life.

Isn't that the bottom line for an entertainer? To me he was a comedic giant. Few were his equal. Those of you who want to talk about how he was an ass, think about this, we are all asses at times. I teared up today, just like I did the day George Carlin died. Rest in peace Jerry. You definitely brightened up my world.

My first date was at a showing of "The Nutty Professor". My sis and I would eagerly await Jerry's MDA telethons. Didn't miss any of Jerry's guest hostings of the Tonight Show whenever Jack Parr was on vacation.

Fond memories.

RIP Jerry.

I had forgotten that his roots were live performance...you're right, it was epic!

And he was funny as shit too. He made me laugh so much when I was a kid. There was a time we made fun of how the French thought him a genius.

He was goofy, but he did things to extend the goofy to the point you had to laugh. I watched some of his films fairly recently and realized his comedy is timeless.

He is amoung the giants like Phil Silvers, Jack Benny, Milton Berle, and Bob Hope (though not so much a fan of him).

I read his auto-biography which came out about 10 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

(Much to my parents' dismay)

My dad would leave the room, if I happened on a Jerry Lewis movie.

I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. He looked terrible about 10 years ago.

there are no perfect people in the world, but that doesn't mean they didn't try their best to be the perfect person. for whatever his faults were, mr. lewis did try to help others with his MDA telethons, and that's more than can be said for a lot of people.

that and the man was damn funny... martin and lewis forever.
