And to boost his popularity. He is going on national tv tomorrow night to announce this. Nobody seems to know what the hell is going on.

(46,110 posts)Repeatedly when asked by the media about how he would resolve conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Trump would retort that he had a secret strategy, that he wasn't going to reveal what he was going to do to "our enemies".
And today, he going to do just the opposite.
So yeah, it's a distraction.

I suggest that one should give up the 'correlation implies causality' hypothesis before one has actual evidence of a causative chain of evidence.
Drumpf is as evil as a leader can get. But I attribute his failures, not to him being as some evil genius, but to being a universal incompetent.
The rest is just the mayhem of today's political system, where NAZIs march in the streets of the USA and our president talks about the many sides in the discussion of the event.
Projection into the future in this situation is utter madness.

(13,485 posts)I suppose if we're talking about eye function then of course not.
I think Trump has repeatedly shown his contempt for failure by portraying some sort of pre adolescent grandstanding, even fear of failure wouldn't be reaching too far. Universal incompetence is definitely his strong point, no doubt there, and evil genius is the last inscription I'd expect to be written on his toppled statue. He's a collection of other people's manipulations at most. I have little reason to think he has any "special" idea concerning one of a myriod of subjects he knows absolutely nothing about.
Figuring he's rather backed against a wall, has no idea what her doing, wants to be the most special boy, and has plenty of perpetrators ready to penetrate his bottom dollar, I do think closing my eyes may be a realistic and less nauseating way to interpret his game.
I appreciated your third sentence. Great line.
Gotta run... an eclipse to witness....

Seth Abramson has also suggested out that the 9:00 p.m. Monday timing is a mean-spirited and deliberate upstaging of CNN's previously announced and heavily promoted Town Hall with Paul Ryan which was to be broadcast in that time slot.
