Trump,Who Probably Can’t Find Afghanistan On A Map, To Give Speech Distracting America With War

Trump latest effort to distract America from his scandals is a nationally televised address to the troops about the war in Afghanistan.


The White House announced Trump’s speech in a statement by Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, “President Donald J. Trump will address our Nation’s troops and the American people tomorrow night at 9:00 p.m. (EDT) from Fort Myer in Arlington, VA, to provide an update on the path forward for America’s engagement in Afghanistan and South Asia.”

Let’s be honest about what this speech really is about. Donald Trump is the using his role as commander in chief to try to change the subject from the Russia scandal and his support of racists to the war in Afghanistan.

Sec. of Defense James Mattis tried to sell Trump’s speech as a decision that he made after a review of the Afghan war strategy, “I am very comfortable that the strategic process was sufficiently rigorous and did not go in with a pre-set position. The president has made a decision. As he said, he wants to be the one to announce it to the American people.”

No one believes for a second that a president with the attention span of a drunk hamster did a serious review of the war and the options for US policy in Afghanistan. Trump didn’t review the policy options by studying them. He had somebody tell him his options, and he picked them in between tweets.

No one is fooled by this White House. It doesn’t matter how they dress Trump up or what setting they put him in; he will never be a competent president.

1. The press needs to be reminded of his pre-election promise.

One of the reasons people were dumb enough to vote for him was his promise to get out of Afghanistan. Another promise broken.

2. Sadly too many ARE fooled or his numbers and

Cheering squads would be darn near extinct.

He and GOP have wanted to privatize war for a long time. If he's not and is increasing troops instead I agree that it's not because of his own thoughts but rather someone else, I'm guessing a person who wants to keep the military numbers and $$ up, convinced him that the later would be better for his numbers than the former.

It won't count as an "address."
It won't be a "path forward."
People will die because of it.
