I am superstitious.

I admit it.

I am fascinated by the solar eclipse that is about to happen. I wonder if it has already done its damage?

It's about darkness and light. Will we have learned anything once it has passed?

I believe in signs.

I believe there are things that science has not yet discovered.

absolutely an event that has always been seen as a sign, and I do believe it has an effect on us.

Also, not for nothing but this eclipse is supposed to be ruinous to Trump(R) according to astrologers, according to Newsweek. I'm going to choose to believe that because I want to believe it. They say look for its effects in the next 6 months.

...are less meaningful once the event has passed. But are more meaningful, leading up to and on the exact date.

I would take that with a grain of salt.

What is superstitious is when Science Nazis try to argue you out of what you have seen or experienced because it does not fit with their scientific "belief system." Good old Shakespeare had Hamlet nail Horatio on that very point centuries ago.

It is superstitious to ascribe mystery to things like eclipses that are completely understood.

The nonsense "God of the gaps" is constantly trying to cram desperate wishful thinking into the gaps of scientific knowledge, and then denying science for things that are known.

Science shows the Earth is billions of years old, humans and chimpanzees share a common ancestor and humans are causing global warming. The denial of science (in order to hold on to wishful thinking) is causing tremendous damage to the human race.

It's impressive that you can work up a pre-eclipse lather about your pet issues, but your rant in no way refers to anything in my comment. You just made up a bunch of stuff that bugs you, and blasted it.

It may well be that the eclipse has nothing to do with provoking your hissy, and that there is somewhere a sound scientific explanation for it.

I can't help but think about Bill-O talking about tides. He decided that since he didn't know what caused them, they were unknowable and therefore gawd.

Look, everyone: science explains the natural world, not the supernatural world. Eclipses are explained naturally. Today's eclipse was known about decades ago. Even Ivanka knows what the cause is. It is not a sign from heaven, a harbinger of doom, or anything to be frightened of. The thunder, lightning, and rain I watched this morning was more dangerous and less predictable than the eclipse will be.

Leeches are often the best way to suck infected blood out of the body, especially in extremities, and allow circulation of healthy blood. Used a lot in reconstructive surgeries after amputation.

... physically it's just a shadow. Psychologically it's kind of what you make of it. If enough people make something of it in their minds, that kind of becomes part of the reality. But scientifically it is a well known and understood natural event. It's still pretty cool, but it's not necessarily a sign of anything unless you make it one.

That can help cleanse the earth ( unfortunately not of trump. ) I have my crystals out to receive energy cleansing and strengthen the energy. I can feel a different energy from just being outside. Maybe some will understand and I am sure some will think I am crazy. Just because there is a scientific explanation for how people feel does not mean it is not real.
