President Donald Trump has signed off on sending 4,000 more troops to Afghanistan, Fox News reported on Monday, citing a senior U.S. official.

The report comes before Trump addresses the nation on his strategy for Afghanistan at 9:00 p.m. EDT Monday (0100 GMT on Tuesday).

All to maintain the status quo. Basically, we get a fiction of a governing body in Kabul; in return, we will pay with 250 American KIAs a year during "pacification" efforts.

That continuing to pump resources into a 16 year old insurgency war is ludicrous should be obvious to anyone, and, indeed, most of the American people know that it is a useless waste of lives and economic resources. People do their level best to forget that Afghanistan is going on because everybody knows it was already a mistake when Obama opted for the military requested status quo, and that was 8 years ago. It was a mistake then, and it;s a mistake now, and it's a symptom of America gone seriously insane that everybody knows spending one more life or dollar in Afghanistan is a fool's errand, but we keep at it.
