"SNIP.............
Monday night, in the largest such demonstration thus far, 10 Cleveland Browns players kneeled ahead of their game against the New York Giants.
The players formed a circle during the national anthem, and rested their hands on each others shoulders in prayer. Five other players stood, hovering over them while placing their hands on their kneeling teammates shoulders. Two of the 15 players who participated a group that included rookies, veterans, starters and backups were white.
During half-time, the players released a statement through a spokesperson:
As an organization, we have a profound respect for our countrys national anthem, flag and the servicemen and servicewomen in the United States and abroad. We feel its important for our team to join in this great tradition and special moment of recognition, at the same time we also respect the great liberties afforded by our country, including the freedom of personal expression.

(31,169 posts)He's not a good pocket passer. His reads and touch are average IMO. If he had better talents he'd be signed.
Brother Buzz
(36,434 posts)discovered this political activism stuff. One could make an argument this knee dropping stuff was just a distraction from the fact that he's a certified 'head case'. And he can't read plays well because, well, he's just not that swift.

(5,128 posts)of Anaheim PD, holder of multiple degrees (including law and a lifetime teaching certificate from TX), decided being a bail bondsman more lucrative than being an attorney told me in 1980 to shock and tease me that football was nothing but social masturbation.
I was sufficiently shocked.
All it is, is a progression of Rome and gladiators in The Coliseum or can be viewed also as devolving. Definitely not moving forward.
Also ex PD because he fought crooked cops.
Anaheim PD never forgave him, pursued him relentlessly and finally put him temporarily away for having a German World War Ii machine gun hanging on his wall. Felon forever, never could vote again.
Went to the dark side. I don't know if he is alive or dead. Owned a million $ historic home in Riverside, sold it, disappeared. I quit with him over his racism towards Hispanics. He wouldn't quit with saying really shitty stuff.

(58,724 posts)Not sure everyone involved would identify what they did as a protest.

(5,608 posts)should apply equally to everyone, and until it does, these people are showing great courage in questioning the rote singing of words that are hollow to many.
