The tuna fish and bread had been decimated. lol

Water was leaving two or three flats at a time.

All the registers were open and the managers were helping bag.

One told me they were not prepared to have the run on the store.

They are not closing down A&M and folks are preparing in case.

Austin floods at the drop of a hat as it is.

I have family arriving shortly from the Texas gulf coast to hunker down here and wait it out. They all had headed to another family members house in Houston, but have since decided everyone should head to the farthest family home inland. Which is me.

Oddly, when I was just at HEB gathering supplies for my guests there were massive lines even here. They were giving out wine samples to the people waiting so long.

To put your heart to rest, most of ATX main problems with flash floods come from people driving into the water. They'll them, "turn around, don't drown" and they'll more than likely be fine.

It was a heck of a ride. The eye was really strange. The quiet is so odd after experiencing 120 mph winds. Seagulls and birds were stuck in the center and moving along with the eye. It got worse when the winds shifted after the eyed passed. The eye experience was about an hour. I built my house like a tank and followed coastal code (stud spacing, lag bolt specs, hurricane rafter ties). It really paid off. I live on a ranch and some of my neighbors down the road did not fare so well. I will not stay if the next hurricane has the potential of being higher than Cat 3. We lucked out that it was so slow and it died down. We are only 45 miles from Rockport. They are devastated.

and I also was in the band when we played at a couple of football games at the stadium. We arrived at the game so late that the clarinets were still putting their instruments together when the announcer asked for us to play the school song.

I grew up in George West and still remember Hurricane Celia from when I was five years old. The wind kept blowing water into the rent house where we lived and we were in the hurricane eye for about a half-hour. The next morning when we awoke we saw that the garage that was made of sheet metal had blown away. Meanwhile, a 40 foot live oak tree in our front yard was uprooted, but fell away from the house.

The Colorado River is also out of its banks. My brother drove over to San Antonio today. I-10 and Alt. 90 are open, but there are several roads closed around Wallis including a portion of US-90. A huge sinkhole developed on FM 762 just south of US-59 at the Brazos Town Center.

The rain stopped in Wharton about 2:00 a.m. and the biggest issue that I'm facing is how fast the stores can restock. I made a late night run to Walmart and they were completely closed so I went to the Buc-ees to get a few necessities.

I wasn't here for Ike, so it's been a while since I've had to make preparations for these kinds of things. It's very eery. That sounds awful! I have been invited by several folks to stay with them in various parts of the city, but I am reluctant to leave my little house for 3-5 days. I have prepared a lot of food and want to be able to take care of things. I know that I will regret this if things truly get bad in my area, but until then - I'm staying put.

My phone and laptop remain plugged in and my chargers are fully charged. I hope this isn't nearly as bad as they say but they updated the forecast to report accumulations upwards of 50" (OMG WTF!!!).

sounds like Texas caught a bit of a break that way at least. Of course, for Houston there's the humidity (here in our part of Georgia, August has little breeze and the air normally feels like hot, steamy cream soup). But hoping you have some shade and can take advantage of the breezes.

I feel so bad for ALL areas hit. I am an animal rescuer and the devastation not only to people, but pets and wildlife makes me cry.

I'm on the NW side of San Antonio and we have been quite fortunate thus far. Rain all day and some winds but only a few gusts with a punch. Local weather is warning about flooding through the beginning of next week. So me and my charges will stay in with stocked provisions and hope nothing worse comes.

It happened when they did the release on Lake Conroe earlier apparently? At least that's the best I've been able to glean with their messed up cell service.

The important thing is they're all 4 safe. Things can be replaced, lives can't.

Those water releases have wreaked havoc. Many people were caught off guard. It's misery upon more misery.

A friend from HS told me they had to evacuate in Bear Creek this morning due to the Addicks and Barker Cypress reservoir releases.

They're all fine too! Safe with family in Dallas by now I hope.

Please check in as soon as you can.

It might not seem like it at times, but DUers do worry about other DUers.

Y'all are in this family's intense thoughts and prayers.🕯

Sunday morning our assembly of the sisters and brothers offered up collective prayers for Texas and especially those who would find themselves in dire straits.

My heart aches.

We have an acrylic by a Houston artist friend depicting the park across the water from Houston Medical Center. I look upon it every day and sob.

San Antonio weather man says it should let up with some periods of sunshine tomorrow. He's usually pretty accurate, and I'm hoping he's spot on this time.

Take care of yourself!!!

Fortunately she is renting, but it still sucks.
She lost her husband a few years ago and decided to sell her home.
She has to go back to work on Tuesday, but will have to take a cab because there are no rental cars available in Houston.
We lost both of our parents over the last several years.
I feel bad for her.

It's not over yet in Houston. I feel so badly for all affected by the disaster.

Sounds like your entire family has been through a lot in recent times. It gets hard when it all piles up. My prayers for all of you for courage and strength. I know you will pull together and take care of one another. That's the greatest gift there is. Keep me posted.
