maybe 60-100 miles away, depending on where landfall will be. It's moving very, very slowly, one reason it has intensified so quickly and so much. Lots of hot ocean water feeding it.

That's the real problem here. There will be property damage from the surge(s), but most of the havoc will be from flooding because it's just going to squat in one place for a day or two before it gets kicked back out to sea and then goes over Houston, which is the projected path.

Anybody with a lovely river view or a picturesque creek on the property should bug out now while they still can.
