Latinos Express Outrage After Trump Pardons Arpaio

ALBUQUERQUE — Few of President Trump’s actions have touched a nerve among Latinos across the political spectrum in the United States quite like his pardon of Joe Arpaio, the former Arizona sheriff who was found guilty of criminal contempt after defying a federal judge’s order to stop targeting Latinos based solely on suspicion of their immigration status.

And this from a president who has called Mexican immigrants rapists, attacked a judge over his “Mexican heritage” and repeatedly vowed that Mexico, instead of American taxpayers, would pay for a wall on the southern border.

Artemio Muniz, the chairman of the Texas Federation of Hispanic Republicans, said Friday night that he was “beyond disgusted” by the pardon, saying on Twitter that the move essentially placed Mr. Arpaio above the law. “Conservatives who claim rule of law are #fakenews.”

Such reactions to Mr. Trump’s pardon reflect the enduring outrage over Mr. Arpaio’s actions as the longtime sheriff of Maricopa County, which encompasses Phoenix. Before his ouster by voters in November, Mr. Arpaio gained notoriety as an immigration hard-liner and one of Mr. Trump’s most prominent supporters in the Southwest.

rapists etc., was allowed to be normalized a long time ago & Joe Six-packs don't care what he did in AZ or that its wrong profiling Latinos, but they should because the one of biggest settlement for his reign of terror was this guy
Scott Norberg

Or Richard Post
Remember when trump encouraged cops to rough up prisoners ?
Post is disabled it didn't matter
So far, Maricopa County paid out more than $50 million to settle lawsuits filed by people who crossed his path and were made sick, crippled, hurt or died as a result. In fact, there are so many lawsuits the county’s liability insurance carrier upped the deductible fivefold, to $5 million per action.
Part of the problem is that Arpaio tolerates violence by his officers against prisoners; in fact, one deputy stated “If you don’t rough up prisoners, Arpaio doesn’t think you’re doing your job " Trump's dream sheriff but it shouldn't be for America

All the people in government who worked to get him federally convicted is another group I bet are complaining amongst themselves but what can they do , they did thier job ? How terrible they must feel

We all should be moving together to protest the abuse of pardon for a known racist and what this pardon stands for, and if a personal reason is needed, because they won't stop at abuse of Latinos

But right now you are right , they will just complain to each other as they are not seeing much protest in general over this.
