New video has surfaced that shows a man drawing a gun and opening fire at the neo-Nazi protest in Charlottesville on August 12th. The man was reportedly taken into custody this morning, but many are asking why police didn’t do anything at the time

35. That's not the way it looks in the video...

...but the action is obscured because someone is standing in the way. It appears that the person with the spray can is being confronted by a White Supremacist verbally (white shirt, black backpack, umbrella). That White Supremacist is sprayed with whatever it is, the White Supremacist pushes the guy with the spray can, and he walks away. He's leaving the scene. The White Supremacist with the gun isn't involved yet.

Then the spray is lit on fire and pointed in the direction of the stairs and the guy with the gun approaches the person with the lit spray can with his gun, and then fires as the guy on the stairs uses his flag pole to swat the lit spray can away.

The incident in the tape does not look like self-defense or defense of others with a lit spray can.

The guy with the spray can may have used it to defend himself in another incident, but it doesn't look that way in this incident.

I agree the police should have been in there keeping the peace and protecting the public.
