I bring this up just because it's gotten SO obvious how inhuman The Orange Menace is. All Pence is doing is walking around and standing beside Franklin (shudder) Graham while he prays and shills, but he looks like an actual person, pressing a little flesh, doing a political photo op in the way politicians do them.
It's stunning, the comparison. I can't help but wonder if they're placing him carefully in the seat of ascension.
And apropos of nothing, I had NO idea the Governor was in a wheelchair.

"Congress must ensure that a catastrophe of nature does not become a catastrophe of debt for our children and grandchildren.

(8,203 posts)disaster relief okay - but will cut medicare and Medicaid to do it - we should never forget his policies....just can't nolabear...maybe if he shows he can walk on water - then you just might get me to agree..sure is plenty of water to walk on..and I do not mean that disrespectfully...
Too many are suffering for ANYONE to politicize this devastation......just sayin'

(41,987 posts)But he knows how to look like a human being, not a weird simulacrum. Nobody could say his APPEARANCE was bizarre. This is a bad thing. I'm not supporting him at all.
He's a nightmare. As for politicizing, it's just going to be a natural offshoot of participation for those seeking any kind of office. I'm really curious to see how people align themselves when they come back next week.

I don't think he even LOOKS like he knows how to look like one.
He sure can't fool me..
He's an alien bot.

(43,184 posts)For all that he is, Mike Pence appears to have some grasp on political optics--what looks good versus what doesn't--where Donald Trump never can even approach that area.
That's not to excuse some of the things Pence stands for, and it' s not to say he isn't a huge hypocrite, but he clearly is far more adept in that one department than Trump.
He's essentially running for President in 2017 or 2018, and his "electorate" are Republican members of Congress who would need to be convinced ditching Trump at this point is a smart move.

(24,764 posts)At least Pence is capable of pretending to care, i.e., playing the part, even is his heart is really not in it.

(15,806 posts)to see a clip of Pence hoisting a bundle of branches away from some flood site. Not to demean any sincere concern Pence may have, but that scene immediately called to mind the coverage of another "sincere" guy in Texas clearing brush. . .

(53,410 posts)Greg Abbott. Just in case you think you might like him like I did, she said that after an explosion of a chemical plant that was so big that it killed dozens of people and destroyed lots of homes in a town close by, that he helped pass a law in Texas where it was OK for chemical plants or any other kind of dangerous plant to not disclose what chemicals they have. People are not allowed to ask either. So now no one can know what's in that chemical plant that the officials of the company have told the towns to evacuate. They claim that any number of their chemicals can explode because they lost refrigeration. But they haven't and probably will not disclose what chemicals are there. So no first responders can prepare.
Too bad. He seemed like a pretty decent person.
