General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhen everyone tires of refighting the 2016 primaries, what's your choice next old topic to debate?
A few suggestions:
1) The Huguenots vs. the Protestants. It's all John Calvin's fault, it's only religion.
2) Alexander Hamilton vs. Aaron Burr. I think dueling is against the rules on DU.
3) The 47 Ronin vs. Kira Yoshinaka. A separate debate on morality of seppuku.
Any other suggestions more interesting topics than the 2016 primary are welcome.

(2,522 posts)Casey's General Stores are steadily marching from the heart of the heartland bringing life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, as well as good pizza, sandwiches, and donuts. The donuts are not sugar puffy like Krispy Kreme or somehow just not right like Dunkin Donuts, but excellent sustenance for those deprived of the joy of freshly baked donuts.

Steadily overcoming ignorance and resistance, they are pushing ever eastward, and have crossed Illinois and Indiana, have a solid foothold in Ohio, but fear not, in another 10 years, they will liberate the taste buds of those - eventually grateful - long suffering souls in Western Pennsylvania.

(38,335 posts)I consider the Democratic party slightly right of center, but it's all we've got. This U.S.A. is a right of center nation and the way our Constitution is written, we end up with two major parties and spoilers. I might prefer a parliamentary system, but so it goes. I was born here and I haven't left.
I'm a bare naked socialist and radical environmentalist.
In my home town we're missing Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme. We've got Mexican bakeries (pan dulce, yum!) and smaller U.S.A. style doughnut shops mostly owned by immigrants.
Have a little pig...

At least side by side with Ringo, I stood a chance.

(53,922 posts)We need to start advocating to the DNC for a permanent, well-funded committee that hires top-notch
attorneys to take repug cheaters to court, seasoned private investigators to help, publicists and social
media experts to expose the cheating and spread the word on the anti-cheating campaign, media liaisons
to do the same, volunteers a robust organization that is parallel and just as important as the GOTV
campaign because as hard as we work to get out new voters the repugs work just as hard to
cheat and suppress our voters so we can't afford to just do what we've always done.
We've got to add a new, anti-cheating component to our party's arsenal as we know the repug will not
stop trying to cheat. The more we blunt them the more votes we stop them from suppressing.
This should have been done after 2000 but for some reason there's a head-in-the-sand attitude about this.

From Wikipedia:
* In philosophy and rhetoric, eristic (from Eris, the ancient Greek goddess of chaos, strife, and discord) refers to argument that aims to successfully dispute another's argument, rather than searching for truth.
* An informal fallacy occurs when the contents of an argument's stated premises fail to adequately support its proposed conclusion.
