You don't vote to give hardcore racists like Steve King and Joe Arpaio power. You don't vote for a Senate Majority Leader who wants to destroy the government from within for the benefit of those with more money than god. You don't vote for governors that treat their state like a playground like Chris Christie. You don't put the EPA in the hands of a guy who doesn't believe in science and thinks climate change is a myth. The republicans are the wrong answer to everything.

here's the basic math that americans with brains ignore - this is why we have trump, and bush and palin before him:

at a cheap $1000/hr x 15hrs/day x 5 = $75,000/wk x 1200 stations rw talk radio is worth $18MIL/day or 390MIL$ /month or 4.68 BIL$/ year FREE for coordinated global warming denial, pro republican free market deregulation and wall st think tank propaganda, swiftboating, and the hate and fear used to get people to vote republican.

we still fail, bigly, don't even poll for it

it's like the visual icing/reinforcement on the lie turd pie of talk radio - it needs talk radio being ignored

-unlike fox and other media, in most parts of the US there are no free easy alts for politics while driving and working - talk radio is it, and it's a 95% rw monopoly - with all other major media there are easy alternatives a click away
-there's a lot that is said on talk radio that wouldn't escape scrutiny and criticism on fox and some of it would cause major problems for fox - like when i heard a local guy last year attacking the sanctuary city concept for santa fe NM and suggesting the killer vigilante idea presented in the 'Purge' movies maybe wasn't such a bad idea.
-fox cannot do the kind of repetition needed to sell a lot of the alternate reality we have now
-it's easier to lie on the radio
-with radio it's possible to coordinate locally
-talk radio reaches 50 mil a week
etc

having talk radio roots. some of it going back 20 years. i saw it repeated by 'progressives'.

most of what breitbart did piggybacked, reflected, and reinforced unchallenged talk radio repetition.

there's a reason trump studied talk radio in 2014, as described by sam nunberg to gabriel sherman in new york magazine 4/3/16, and i suspect the russians suggested it to him.

The Electoral College failed. They have two problems.

1) In this case they achieved the opposite of what they were intended to do, i.e. they allowed a demagogue to lie constantly and make promises to the (in particular) not so astute voters;

2) It's structure is mathematical and logically unsound in that states are perceived as having voting rights: as silly as allowing any of these to have voting rights: roads, bridges, trees, guns, automobiles, the dead, dance bands, or cow patties. The net result has been to magnify the power of these same not-so-astute voters.

I don't think it was all about I Q
An E Q *gage of the country perhaps

*EQ (Emotional Quotient) is a term used in psychometric to identify Emotional Intelligence (EI)
Emotional Intelligence or EI is referred to as the ability to recognize , evaluate and regulate your own emotions, emotions of those around you and groups of people. And just like IQ , EQ is measured by EQ Test.
A person who owns high Emotional Intelligence has the ability to self-assess, knows the strengths and weaknesses of themselves and others , has empathy and understanding of others’ feelings. They know how to keep calm and optimistic in life even in the most difficult challenges .
