the cranes are supposed to be able to withstand 145 mph winds.

They also have been discussing the fact that wind speeds are faster/stronger higher up where there are fewer buildings
providing friction to slow down the winds.

As much as they can be a little melodramatic, The Weather Channel really does have a fair number of meteorologists who
really know their stuff, as well as experts in various specialty areas of weather--like hurricanes.

I've been flipping between The Weather Channel and MSNBC. The difference is quite noticeable to me in terms of how much better
informed the meteorologists of TWC are and able to explain the science of what they are reporting.
