VERO BEACH, Fla. A Florida man was going home Friday morning after his shift as a Pepsi truck driver to put up his storm shutters ahead of evacuating to Alabama before Hurricane Irma made landfall.
But as Brannon Mills was driving south on Interstate 95, he smelled gasoline coming from his Dodge Caliber. Within minutes, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames.
I was driving on 95 and I smelled a lot of gas, said Mills, who was able to escape uninjured. I didnt think nothing of it. Once I got right here, I saw the smoke and thats when I got out of the car. Then someone told me, Your car is on fire, underneath the engine. He was right behind me when I got out. Good thing. God is good.
