THAT is the question. Romney's campaign won't say who was actually running the company, just saying it was "a management committee." But that explanation doesn't hold water, unless Bain wasn't doing any business during that time. If Bain was doing deals and conducting normal business, then someone was signing the paperwork on behalf of the company. And it wasn't "a management committee." It was a person.
Why can't they simply tell us who was actually signing legal documents on behalf of Bain Capital?
And why hasn't one single "journalist" asked that simple question?

Smart business, perhaps. Really dumb politics.

(31,706 posts)There are some here who are having vapors thinking that the Bain attacks are coming too soon...firing your bullets too early. Au contrare...the way a campaign of this sort works is to start with a broad question and then ask lots of questions in the weeks and months ahead. Yours is one of them.
First...the Obama campaign had to make people familiar with Bain. For months Willard has tried to use this company as is qualifications for being president and few people understood what Bain did. Also there were the questions about Willard's claims and his association with the company. The questions we're hearing today aren't new...the ownership in Bain was brought up in his 2002 Massetchussets election...but never fully exploited.
Bottom line is the bottom line. If your name is on the documents then your signature is your bond. No matter how Willard tries to parse the "is is", he's caught in the lie that he had no association with Bain during the failure of some companies and the plundering of others. Once the picture of Bain being poison is painted and Mittens role is highlighted...now let the questions flow.
