Why are so many freaking out

over the upcoming healthcare debate on Monday?

Many think Sander's is going to stink things up?

I think he'll stay on point will present the facts well...

Or is that he'll stray and start highlighting the benefits of Single Payer.

I don't see the downside.. but maybe I'm not clicking on the right button

Sanders doesn't actually want the ACA, he wants what he perceives to be something he believes to be a strict upgrade. In my experience generally the most effective advocates are those who are the most passionate.

Presenting a complex argument is hard. People like simple. For example Maga as compared to Clinton's far more thought out arguments. It's hard to say "Yes the ACA is better than the Republican plan, but really this other thing is better even though it would be a major change." The Republican argument is then "see even Democrats/liberals say the ACA sucks".

will give the Republican's any ammunition at the debate... I think it would do a lot of harm if he did..

So I guess your response is the actual talking point the anti-Sanders are bringing up.

I think he'll be o.k.

to inform them of what they can expect when Democrats regain power--and they will--if the ACA reforms are overturned.

While most of us would love to see Medicare for all, we know the bill has no chance of being passed by this Congress and so does Sanders, he's far from stupid. However, it is a warning to the GOP and the Hayek obsessed plutocrats they rode in on that if they screw the pooch this badly, socialized medicine is on its way.

9. Both Clinton and Sanders had well developed personality cults

during the primary last year. Personality cultists are unable to admit any character flaws in their own chosen hero/ine and refuse to see the good in the opposing party.

Sanders cultists have largely decamped to other sites. People still posting here at DU voted for Clinton in the general, no matter whom they supported in the primary.

I see Sanders as a smart old bugger who knows what he's doing. Hyperventilation from the easily distressed doesn't impress me and the HuffPost article they keep trotting out missed the point, completely.

why wasn't he our nominee? It is clear that the majority of the people who identify as Democrats do not want him leading our party.

If he is so effective, why is there no legislation with his name on it? What has he sponsored, written and passed that has improved our lives?

I would consider him effective if he was out supporting the ACA and speaking against its repeal. He should be doing that, not running around giving foreign policy speeches. Both his single payer bill and his speaking tour about other topics are ill-timed and ill-advised.

Make our fucking case. Show the voters what we want and who we are. Ya wanna know why we're struggling as a party, despite being on the right side of the issues? Despite Americans in general hating what Repugs stand for? Because, there is a perception that, for good or ill, at least they have an agenda. And that swings low information voters. Don't count on "We're not as bad as the other guy" to win the day. It won't. November proved that as well as anything could. Make our case- loudly, proudly, every chance we get.

This has been in the works for a while. Our brave Dems are sending Bernie out to see how he does against our reptilian overlords. If he doesn't get burnt to a crisp by their mighty right wing talking points, maybe our heros will work up the courage to 'talk back' and promise 'big things' some day too.

Seriously, I also think Sanders will stay on point and present the facts well. Of course, Lil Lindsey and Hopalong will do all they can to ding MFA, but I kinda think that's because, politically, it scares the snot out of them.
