At this point, even if there is nothing bad in Mitt's tax returns, he's screwed.

Why wait this long to release them? If there's nothing bad in them, then this hold off will just be viewed as arrogant on his part, as if his tax returns are none of the American people's business.

One more way Mitt is winning hearts and minds. LOL

I was going to make this same point. The big story is his refusal to release them, not what's in them Happyhippychick Jul 2012 #1

but based on how reluctant he is to release them that doesn't appear to be the case.

and turned the issue around completely, but that would require the returns to contain nothing negative.

he's painted himself into such a corner that if he doesn't release them (he probly won't) there'll be a lingering cloud and it's easy to paint him as having something to hide----because, well, he's actually hiding something.

If he does release them, then he's flip-flopped yet again and who knows what's in there, the way he's hiding them.

For whatever reason, Rmoney has decided it's politically advantageous NOT to release his tax returns, which means there has to be something significantly damaging in them.

Rmoney released his tax returns to McCain when he wanted to be his VP. I'm betting that many of McCain's campaign staffers had them in digital form. It's hard to imagine them not being leaked. I'm sure there's also a lot of IRS workers who could have leaked them.

Not that he did so illegally, but that he probably took some kind of huge writeoff for one of the companies that he bankrupted and ended up paying $50 bucks in taxes.
