Every day is a new assault on our senses in just about every way. If it is not some disaster it is the continuing disaster of listening to Trump and watching the GOP. It is like waiting for the next shoe to drop.

It means we have to resist harder and harder going forward.

to agree with you.

While I will continue to vote, of course, and participate in the political system, I have lost my confidence in the good in people. Add to this watching Ken Burns' special. All humans can be turned into killing hate machines, given the proper nefarious stimulus. Right wingers, conservatives, authoritarian christofascists have put us on this path for what end I do not know. I suppose each group has their different reasons.

I no longer feel protected by my government or country. I am no longer interested in popular culture. I no longer have faith in humanity (though there are individuals I love, trust and admire). I believe our darkness outweighs our light. We will be the end of all the beauty that has co-evolved with us. It is only a matter of time and I think as an individual I would rather not be here for the long, slow, painful, ugly decline.

Sorry to be fatalistic today.
