Historians have proven it was an apocryphal statement.

As always, History is written by the winners and not always as accuratly as it supposed be. Then, decades or centuries later, historians take a closer look and correct here and there acts, words,...

In general, the way she is depicted is to the least, biased. Stefan Zweig who new very well France History, wrote an interesting biography.

Since day one, she was hated and charged with almost every sin. She was only 14 when she came in France, did not speak French.

But for political reasons, as nowdays, they deliberatly depicted her as the worse calamity France has to undergo thru the centuries.
