Navy: Review underway after Rep. Tim Murphy's disclosure of affair (republican scumbag)

A Navy spokesperson said Tuesday that a review is being conducted following last week's admission by U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, that he had an extramarital affair.

Mr. Murphy is a commander in the Navy Reserves and is currently in drilling status at a Voluntary Training Unit in Washington, D.C.

"The facts and circumstances of this case are being reviewed," the spokesman said.

Interesting.

.....Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, adultery is a crime that can be prosecuted under Article 134, which includes "any offense which is of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces, or conduct which is prejudicial to good order and discipline."

To prove such a case, a prosecutor must show not only that an act of extramarital sex occurred between the two parties, but also that it brought discredit to the armed forces.

A military commander makes that determination.

If charges are not filed, the individual's command can separately request an administrative separation.

Rep. Murphy issued a statement yesterday that he won't seek another term, and he asked everyone to please respect his privacy and the privacy of his family during this difficult time. Naturally, that sort of consideration doesn't extend to any women in Pennsylvania who might find themselves pregnant; Rep. Murphy feels that is of vital public interest and he feels the government should be a necessary party to any discussions between a woman and her doctor.

Hasn't he suffered enough? (Spoiler alert: No.)
