(24,324 posts)threat for so long, they, as best as they can, 'take it in stride.' How else can one live a life?
But, yes, this time it is a little different.. Still people smile, love, enjoy, post on FB. :> )...shop, take the subway, complain about the heat in August,.. and go about their lives... But if I asked anyone I know, I would probably get the same answer. The question isn't even necessary.
I have learned that Korean people, at least the ones I know and make contact with in Korea, have a genuine warmth, generosity, openness, an engagement in life as it is, acceptance, if you will.
Whenever I deplane in Incheon I can feel something that I do not feel anywhere else in the world..(even the flight feels different.) By the time I have gone through customs, bought my T-Money card and AREX card, and picked up my Pocket Wi-Fi, I can feel myself changing.. It is uncanny,,, Once I'm on the AREX to Seoul....the transition is almost complete... 45 minutes later, when I hit Seoul Station., it's like I have shed a skin and a new being has emerged...... The rest of the world has disappeared!
But still, I am worried,, and , I suspect, so are they....

(42,770 posts)about Thailand. I once asking someone who had travelled..literally to most places on Earth..where he picked as the best and it was there. I sometimes wonder what it would be like to be in a country with one common set of beliefs

(24,324 posts)Right after being in Singapore.
Interesting also, my first reaction, for a couple days in Bangkok was how dirty, smelly noisy..it was..especially after. well.. Singapore, :> )
But then suddenly, something changed and , I 'got it'... ... traveled to Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son..
Wasn't as touristy, even then...

(19,201 posts)a fucking clue about anything. And why is she even IN that picture?
As far as I can figure, her "official" White House job is to have her Stepford Wife smile ready at a moment's notice, and to bear the weight of the make-up and hair care products applied to her before each photo-op. They say she's fluent in six languages, and everyone wonders which languages those would be, since no one speaks Slovenian, or can understand her attempts at speaking "English"?

(42,770 posts)heard every thing this monster has said. And, trust me, he CAN NOT keep a secret.
I am 100% convinced that the secret to collusion, could definitely be figured out if someone analyzed his words against actions/events. But, collusion is so benign compared to catastrophe.
For a sane person, this would be innocuous. But for Trump - he is saying something big *and horrible is coming.

(42,770 posts)I read how they created a sub rosa plan when Nixon went crazy - like three people who had to "sign off" on a nuke strike? not just Nixon? guess unconstitutional - but hoping someone is doing that now?

(58,903 posts)They dont refer to themselves as North Korea.
They refer to themselves as the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, usually abbreviated to DPRK.
They use Democratic the way that many organizations use the word Christian.

(42,770 posts)Andrew Beatty (born 1980 in Dungannon, Northern Ireland[1][2][3]) is a Northern Irish journalist and editor. He is best known for his current role as the White House Correspondent for Agence France-Presse (AFP). He also serves as a regular pool reporter for the travels of both the president and vice president.[4][5][6]
Beatty previously was the AFP news editor for Southern Africa, an AFP war correspondent in North Africa, a Latin America correspondent for Reuters, and a Brussels-based correspondent for The Economist.[7]
Raised in Tyrone and Antrim, Beatty attended Queen's University Belfast and earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy in 2002. He also studied philosophy at the University of Salamanca and anthropology at Stockholm University.[7]
During his career, Beatty has covered notable events such as the Great Recession; the 2010 Haiti earthquake and its aftermath; the 2011 Libyan Civil War, where he covered the battles for Ajdabiya[8], Misurata[9][10], Bani Waled and Tawergha where he was shot at but unharmed; the death of Nelson Mandela; the 2014 Lesotho coup[11] and the 2016 U.S. presidential election and transition.[12]
A 2017 study found that Beatty was one of the journalists most frequently called on by Obama White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest.[13] He has been critical of both the Obama and Trump administrations' perceived inaccessibility and hostile attitude towards journalists.

(14,971 posts)Kellys resigning today. These rumors are meaningless but I was surprised because I would have picked Tillerson. The angry rhetoric Trumps spewing iabout Tillerson is the same as before Price resigned. Maybe both of them will resign.

(34 posts)We had 8 years of a Democrat (supposedly progressive) president who continued drone strikes, bombings, regime change, etc. and we stood idly by and said/did nothing. Now that this atrocity of a president is in office, it's really hard for me to comprehend how democratic law makers can effectively be in opposition to his hawkish intent. It is my hope that this serves as a lesson to every Progressive out there to quit being hypocrites. Oppose war at all times, not just when your team is not in charge.
