(47,131 posts)Why the continual discrepancy between exit polls and official vote counts?
American statisticians cannot be that incompetent.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)agreed - the exit poll variances have bothered me since election day.
And, since Trump is a master of projection, I think the "millions of illegal votes" he's whined about many times were really votes for Trump and/or votes that flipped from Clinton to Stein or Johnson or Trump.
Irish_Dem
(47,131 posts)Yes, and it is not the first presidential election with variance between exit polls and official vote count.
A standard tactic for sociopaths is to accuse others of the wrong doing and crimes they have committed or will commit. It serves to confuse and deflect. And can inoculate against future accusations.
It was clever, the orange f-wad (sorry, I cannot say his name), accuses others of election fraud.
Everyone says this is an outrage, our voting system is secure. Then when it turns out we do
not in fact have a secure voting system, the public is confused and doesn't know what to believe.
Yes he does projection all the time. In this way he tips his hand. All of his accusations against others reveal his own wrong doing.

Anyone who does not support him will be his enemy and treated accordingly.
This theme plays out over and over. Blind loyalty is required of everyone.
Even his own staff and cabinet picks cannot seem to measure up to this standard

(19,204 posts)Now, and forever. There is no reason on earth why everyone has to know the election results before they go to bed. If it takes a week, it takes a week, but then we'll know for certain WHO is our next legitimately elected President!
And hello, welcome to Democratic Underground.

(47,131 posts)I agree with you 100%.
We must have paper ballots.
YOHABLO
(7,358 posts)Granted if we were to establish a bill in Congress that all States must go to paper ballots, guess which party will be up in arms fighting against it. They know they've been rigging the outcomes at least since Gore v Bush.

(3,568 posts)about hacking is maddening. I completely agree with everything you said. Paper ballots is not only the best solution, it is the only solution. Computers will always be vulnerable to hacking.

(32,645 posts)I'm in Pennsylvania, and we're all feeling like we were hacked but nobody can prove it.
Somehow the Russians left fingerprints, but nobody knows where or how.
We must take these voting machines offline immediately. Go back to handwritten ballots, counting by hand. If it takes a week to count them, so what?
TexasBushwhacker
(20,202 posts)If voting by mail is put in place and encouraged, they can start counting those early, without disclosing results. The 24 hour news cycle has been bad for so many things.
SonofDonald
(2,050 posts)And that is really nice but the MSM said recently we were hacked/interfered with by the Russians, they said nothing came of it but why would they try a hack in a state that's vote by mail only?.
Because they wanted to change the totals of course, its the only reason I can think of since they can't erase the paper ballots.
Pretty simple

(5,210 posts)PALMER: Rigged election: Donald Trump won every surprise swing state by the same 1% margin
http://www.palmerreport.com/opinion/rigged-election-donald-trump-won-every-surprise-swing-state-by-the-same-1-margin/118/
The most commonly posited explanation of Donald Trumps shocking election victory was that every professional pollster in the nation despite each working independently and using differing methodologies somehow managed to overlook the same pockets of Trump voters in these states. If such pockets did exist, they would have existed in varying sizes in each of the four states, thus resulting in different sized wins in each.
Ask any statistician and theyll tell you that a reasonable distribution of the results would have been Trump winning one of the states by one percent, won one of them by perhaps three percent, won one of them by two percent, lost one of them by one percent, or something along those lines. But instead the voting tallies looked startlingly different from any natural distribution. In fact they looked startlingly the same.
According to the New York Times, the voting results broke down like this: Trump won Florida by just over one percent of the vote. He also won Pennsylvania by just over one percent. He won Michigan by just under one percent. And he won Wisconsin by precisely one percent. Thats not how numbers tend to work in the real world.
On its own, this kind of suspiciously consistent numerical dispersion across the four states that decided the election would be something that could be written off as a mere fluke. But when you put it within the context of the numerous other ways in which the voting tallies make no mathematical sense, it points to the numbers having been rigged or altered.

(3,194 posts)If not for the voting machines, I wonder how much power they would really hold.
The Democrats don't seem to care that they've probably had several election victories, Presidential & Others, STOLEN from them in the past 2 decades.
And it's almost like they feel the need to continue the charade that there is ANY legitimacy to our elections. Afraid that people might stop voting if they realized their votes can be changed at any time?

(6,229 posts)What do you want the Dems to do? They have been cut off at the knees election after election. Help me out here.
SoCalMusicLover
(3,194 posts)One would think that if the votes are being flipped, the Democrats would have every reason to want to investigate and speak loudly that something suspicious was occurring.
It's essentially a coup. I still believe they want to maintain the illusion that voting matters. If the truth came out, that votes have been flipped, and elections falsified, the whole voting apparatus would collapse.
Progressive dog
(6,905 posts)many Americans would be speaking loudly and calling for investigations. The security of our elections is fundamental to our system of government, it's not just about partisan politics.

(6,229 posts)I feel like crying every day over what is going on. I am so frustrated and feel that we the people will never get control of our country again. (7,395 posts)Even if Trump goes to jail tomorrow and everything is revealed, there will still be a very high body count. We'll be generations repairing the damage this sneak attack/backstabbing has done to the psyche and body of our nation, if such a recovery can even occur. The human race as a whole will suffer the possibly-terminal consequences of this traitorous act. The tangibly and intangibly-linked human deaths, the degradation of the natural environment and the loss of critical time to solve the worst crisis the earth has ever faced -- the Russians and the Republican Party are the architects of an apocalypse that may be unstoppable.
I'll never view conservatism the same way. The ideology has been transformed into the Grim Reaper. They are Death.

(3,827 posts)When a voter mistakenly went to an early voting site in Wilton on Saturday, the doors were unlocked and voting booths, ballots and equipment were sitting out with no election workers in sight.
The early voting site at Tar River Elementary School in the southern Granville County crossroads community wasnt open Saturday. But poll workers forgot to lock the building when the site closed on Friday.
The voter who was using an inaccurate early voting schedule found online called the Granville County Board of Elections to report the unsecured polling site.
Elections director Tonya Burnette said election officials and representatives from both political parties met at the site Sunday to double-check completed ballots and make sure no one had tampered with equipment or ballots. They found no evidence of any problems.

(65,174 posts)Ever since Election Day, I have had a strong feeling something was off. Winning the popular vote by 3 million and losing by such small margins in the most crucial states is either REALLY bad luck or something suspicious.
