Isn't it a health issue? What century are we living in?

The Godly know that you should have lots and lots of babies. And the government knows that it's a lot of religious people out there. So, never mind that birth control stuff. Go and make babies. Lots of babies. More worshipers and voters, dontcha know?

(36,827 posts)Inevitably this leads to a lot of guilt and self-loathing from which the rest of society must pay provided anyone gives them any degree of political power, and the Banana Republicans are more than happy to hand it over.

And to get back alley abortions.
Humiliating and dangerous.
Women have been treated as second class citizens for millennia.
They have been controlled by men.
The GOP males seem to be fine with abortion and birth control when it comes to their girl friends.

(12,633 posts)allows a religion to include any (legal)dogma it wants: eat not pigs; cover thy head; have many children. The adherents to religions believe these are the pronouncements of a supreme being whose rules must be obeyed, or unthinkable punishment will ensue.
Sometimes this belief causes adherents to believe that everyone must obey deity-given rules, even those who deny the existence of this, or any, deity. Sometimes, in order to show the strength of their beliefs, adherents seek to show that they must obey these rules even at a remove. They can't appear to be condoning someone else's flouting of the rule, in this case to " be fruitful and multiply " and not to " spill (one's) seed upon the ground".
The government under an illegitimate ruler seeks to gain legitimacy by making common cause with the most pious and conservative of the citizens. Ancient Rome? modern U.S.?

(4,533 posts)God provided for birth after sex. Birth control interferes with nature, interferes with Gods rules of biology. Of course nature also creates polio, Spanish flu, etc yet Catholics can fool with Mother Nature there. But the Catholic ban on birth control is religious.

(51,609 posts)since I could go on and on forever.
However, The Donald is not Catholic and neither are most of the people who have been anti-choice, anti female birth control, etc. since Moses. They are using religion as an excuse to control women as the fucking church has done for a few thousand years. Now instead of the fucking church it is the fucking white, older GOP men. Same old, same old.
