When the President of the United States speaks, the press is obligated to report everything Trump says, and for good or bad the whole world reacts accordingly. Trump hints of something ominous whilst surrounded by military props, and his ill-conceived tease scared Americans, alarmed the politicians, caused our foreign allies to be nervous, and emboldened our enemies. This is his MO, it's how he tries to manipulate public opinion by hyping the fear factor to bolster his ratings. He did that deliberately and Republicans are enabling him, not the media.
