Dianne Feinstein-D is running for re-election in 2018 at the age 85. Feinstein-D gets re-elected. Feinstein-D is unable to serve out her 5th full term.

She is the oldest currently serving Senator, but Grassley is only months younger and just got re elected. No one is saying he won't serve his term, nor Shelby and Hatch who are less than a year younger.

3. The problem with Feinstein-CA is that she will be 91 years old when she completes her next term.

Grassley-IA will be 89 years old in 2022-Byrd-WV was 89 years old when he won re-election in 2006.
Shelby-AL will be 88 years old in 2022.
Hatch-UT will be 90 years old in 2024.

However, a senate term is 6 years. If someone does not think they will live out their term, then it is time for retirement.

I would feel different if they were running for a (2 year) House term.

She had every marble, lived alone, and played Mah Jong 3 times a week. You never know.
