Saw a weird claim from a Trump supporter on FB

I've seen a lot of idiocy from those stupid fuckers, but this one was new to me. It was a discussion about churches and taxation, specifically Osteen's cash cow congregation and the Houston-area churches seeking FEMA bailout after the hurricane.

Some in the discussion asserted that churches should pay taxes if they want to receive tax-funded aid.

"Churches already pay taxes," claimed the idiot. "The church members pay income tax, and the church members are the church, so the church pays income taxes."

The overall arc of the conversation suggests to me that this fucker isn't clever enough to have conceived this bullshit on his own. Any idea where the sentiment comes from?

Most of the fucker's posts were no-comment links to 40-minute YouTube videos (about Clinton personally murdering Vince Foster, etc.), so I imagine that his "churches pay taxes" crap came from one of them.

Anyone else heard this bullshit?

Every business could make some similar claim: "Our customers already pay income tax, so when we charge them tax for their meals, it's double-dipping."

It's obviously garbage, but it has clear appeal to a certain type of person who suspects that someone less worthy (less white, usually) is getting an "unfair" advantage.

Romney claimed the poor and immigrants don't pay taxes. Sales taxes and government fees don't count.
