October 15, 2017 at 8:10 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Mike Allen: Weve learned that after months of frosty distance, President Trump picked up the phone yesterday and called Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell ahead of a week when they absolutely have to work together on a budget, or risk losing tax reform.
Well-wired Republicans privately think chances for tax cuts are still pretty bleak. If Trump and McConnell are able to patch things up even temporarily, Republicans have a better chance at avoiding an embarrassing legislative shutout that could imperil their majorities.
They need to get a budget done in the Senate this week. No budget, no tax reform. Its that simple.

Mitch and his field of GOP Senate candidates will remain in the cross hairs. Possible "truce" notwithstanding, McConnell will once again become Trump's go-to whipping boy when chaos reigns supreme and things don't quite work out on the legislative front.

Why do Republicans have a problem with that?

Power of Party over Country, and Mitch loves his power as we saw in the last election. McConnell has destroyed the Congeniality of the Senate for many years to come. Now it is the Senate of the Ruling King.
