Personhood at conception won't go away. Looks like Trump want to salve the radical religious right by applying the 14th Amendment to fertilized eggs or fetuses. That would mean that these "persons" would have 14th Amendment protections just like any other class.
Such a stand would make contraception pretty much forbidden in most forms. The radical religious right will use any and all means necessary to accomplish their goal.

(15,805 posts)As usual, these nutters haven't thought this through. Will all these unborns get a SS#, do they qualify for medicaid, welfare, tax deductions? This will escalate the War on Women, will the religious state prosecute every miscarriage, investigate women who have periods? The sacred sperm must have a vessel, maybe they can codify that too.

(8,380 posts)you should be able to buy life insurance for it. I had two miscarriages, three fetuses. I could have made out like a bandit. The "Pro-Life from Conception to Birth" crowd needs to put their money where their mouths are.

(11,686 posts)The only people who will not be protected by the fucking 14th will be woman. Women are about to lose every fucking right that a human being should be allowed to have. We are just breeding farms and fuck toys and slaves. I am unable to have children so maybe they better come on over and murder my worthless ass. Christian honor killing if that is what you want to call it. I think I hate this country and am ashamed to be both American and white.

(10,168 posts)If everything with the requisite DNA, in this case human DNA, is going to be protected, then chaos will ensue. We shed hair and skin cells all day long. We spit and slobber and sneeze, dig in our ears, pick our noses. All of the cells from this disgusting spitting and shedding has human DNA, just like a fertilized egg. How will we protect it all? If I cut off some hair and throw it away is that murder? If I spit? What about male masturbation! It's a holocaust!
The crazies will not prevail here.
