Trump Impeachment Articles Could Soon Gain Republican Support, House Democrat ClaimsBY JASON LE MIERE ON 10/16/17 AT 11:33 AM
The push to impeach President Donald Trump could soon receive a major boost, with one Democratic lawmaker claiming that a Republican could support his planned articles of impeachment.
Two Democrats, Al Green of Texas and Brad Sherman of California, have already filed impeachment articles in the House, but they did so without having widespread supporteven among members of their own party. Tennessee Representative Steve Cohen said he is planning to soon follow suit, but he is determined that when he does so, he will have some significant weight behind the effort.
I have one Republican who has said he is looking at it, hes considering it, Cohen told MSNBC Sunday. I have other Republicans, just like Senator Bob Corker suggested, who have told me on a constant basis that they know this man is not balanced, he is not capable of continuing to lead us, including Freedom Party people, who said 'I dont know how long we can stand this.'

That's not going to happen anytime in the near future.
Great guys - good people - but it's not happening.

(779 posts)6. Impeachment and Removal is easier than the 25th.
There's been much talk here and elsewhere about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove 45 due to incompetence. But for the removal to be long term or permanent, it would require a yes vote from the Vice President, the majority of Cabinet, and 2/3 of both houses of Congress.
Impeachment requires only a simple majority of the House, and Removal requires 2/3 of the Senate. This seems to be the more efficient approach.
