I must say that over the past couple of months, she has steadily gained my respect.
She's on right now raking Trump over the coals over his boorish, inappropriate, slimy behavior.

(47,397 posts)I agree with new entry on Nicole Wallace as mostly worthless.
Anyone who helped Sarah Palin in her quest to be VP, is pretty worthless.

(53,410 posts)They don't get free food unless it's for a State Dinner. But they probably do get free food when they're lunching or dining with members of Congress. That would be classified under 'working' meals.
quartz007
(1,216 posts)I figured rent and food was included. Who pays the chefs, even if the first family buys the food? Or does the first family cook their own food?
lunatica
(53,410 posts)There are two kitchens. One is for the First Family. So if someone wants to cook their own meals or raid the frig for midnight ice cream they have their own kitchen. The First Family kitchen is on the second floor.

(3,335 posts)MSNBC shows including Morning Joe since the campaign. Both have shown little affection for Trump. I seem to recall that she had said that her Father was a Trump supporter, and everytime she would mention it, she seemed embarrass by the fact. She and Joe who also claimed to have members of his family who were Trump supporters seemed to be embarrassed by the fact and often joked about it. I like her and give her a pass for Sarah Palin whom she also seems to have no love lost for these days.

(90,793 posts)MSNBC had her and Steve Schmidt on panels as commentators, and their statements on the night of the Republican Convention were epic in their heartbreak for this nation. I have respected both of them a great deal since then.

(90,793 posts)...and by now former Republican. Her resume is well-known: she worked for Dubya as, I believe, communications director or the like. She worked for the McCain campaign and was put in charge of Sarah Palin -- she wrote a book about that nightmare.
Right?
quartz007
(1,216 posts)she did work in GWB regime in some capacity. From that I would assume she was supporting Jeb Bush in 2016.

(7,768 posts)She cried about it but she just couldn't do it because of Palin. She's remarked twice, that I have heard, that she STILL has PTSD because of Sarah fucking Palin.
I have grown to really like her and I try to catch her show when I can. Same with Steve Schmidt. He's been ruthless in tearing trump to pieces!

(1,216 posts)identifying as a republican makes it easier for her to gain jobs at democratic leaning cable TV? Just my WAG.

as i see it, they are more than willing to ignore even encourage sexism, racism, poverty, inequality, discrimination, on and on. endless war. out of control gun culture with almost 100 deaths per day. as of today they appear willing to turn a blind eye to the fact of a president who represents a real threat to the planet and to millions of people.
but, yeah. tax cuts. i hate republicans.

(16,190 posts)Her parents are (or at least were) Trump supporters. Nicole works at her job, treats people generally with respect, and seems clear-eyed about Trump. Plus, she's become a parent which seems to be important in her life; it can make people re-consider their world views in a more humble way. Parenting make sure it pretty obvious that we all are born pretty vulnerable and impressionable, which doesn't jive with republican bootstraps ideology.
The United States needs a Republican Party comprised of thoughtful, honest, "conservatives". It's okay to have a little pepper to balance the salt. Right now there's too much of some other dark substance in the shaker.

(2,679 posts)There was this nasally whine. Then the repug talking points. But every now and then she would briefly stop all that and I would say, whoa Nicole Wallace got a spine. Then she went back to her normal stuff and I switched channels.
Then about a year ago, that whine faded and she didn't retreat to right wing talking points as fast. This kept happening. And she is turning out to be a very good news host. I like the style she has adopted.
These days I really enjoy her show. I would not have said that two years ago. She has changed and for the better. Yes, she is still a republican, but she is not crazy.
