Yup. To win elections, sway public opinion, and put pressure on representatives, it's necessary... Rollo Oct 2017 #8

And I agree with what he says 100%.

However, in my case, he's preaching to the choir. I figure what he needs to do is to sway people who haven't woken up to the danger of Trump yet. And, to reach those, he will need a much slicker and persuasive type of ad, one that doesn't try so hard to sell Tom Steyer and his opinion, and tries a lot harder to get people thinking about how Trump's continued presidency will diminish the lives of themselves, their families, their friends, their neighbors.

Is there really any progressive, liberal, democrat that has to be persuaded?

Right now we need more and more targeting in a much more slick, and LESS intelligent manner. We have to learn how to communicate with them on their level in order to get through the defenses and past the reflect dismissal response.

To address the lowest common denominator.

We saw what happened with Hillary, perhaps the most intelligent person to run for President in ages. Al Gore, too. The public at large doesn't really care, or understand, smart policy. They respond on a more emotional level. Sad but true.

Bush eeked out Gore in key states because John Q. Public figured they'd rather sit around a BBQ with a beer with W than with Al.

Obama was able to get down without sounding artificial. So was Bill Clinton (who is quite smart but acknowledges Hillary is even smarter).

So our next Democratic president, whenever that happens, will likely be someone who puts on a convincing good old boy or good old girl act.

But I digress. We're talking about impeaching Trump. Which actually is a much taller order than replacing him in a fair election. Mainly because the GOP controls Congress, and so far, looking at the stats and the effects of the extreme gerrymandering the GOP has pulled off, it's not looking all that good for Dems to get back a House majority. They MIGHT get even or a slight edge in the Senate, but I wouldn't bet the farm on that, either. Will people in red districts listen to Steyer and petition their GOP representatives? Not unless Steyer backs up his ads with funds to sway or replace them. Public outcry alone will not get Trump kicked out of office.

I don't like it that we need billionaire money to fight this battle. It really sickens me. But, it's the world we live in.

It just makes me feel like we are all pawns in the games of billionaires.

I'm very upset that as someone from Illinois I probably will end up voting for a billionaire for governor. I don't like what his family stands for and the things they have done. But, governor rauner is so awful.

Until election finance laws change we have to do the best we can. It just really bothers me.

I would like to see this on every channel. It is far past time for tolerating this menace. He needs to be removed.
