(14,565 posts)I've seen it everywhere the past few days, notably on sports sites I frequent. The rightwingers are using it as ammo that the left is no different. Rachel has been relentlessly mocked on those sites.
I'm not a fan of her style but Rachel does some good work as long as she has plenty of time to decipher something, and the topic has nothing to do with an actual election.

(19,993 posts)Why are the Chadian troops leaving? It is suggestive that the departure comes in the aftermath of the Trump administrations imposition of a travel ban for Chadian nationals coming to the United States. At the time, Chadian spokespersons warned that the ban could affect its security commitments.

Chad is under the thumb of strongman Idris Deby. It is possible that Deby has taken the Trump administration travel ban as a personal insult, and that he is retaliating by withdrawing Chadian troops from Niger.

Furthermore, if Deby was really mad and wanted to get even with this "ally" who just kicked them in the teeth for no apparent reason with a travel ban, on their way out the door he or one of his troops might even hand over some intelligence about that "ally's" troops remaining in Niger.
"You screw us and we'll screw you and we'll call it even."

(1,730 posts)Rachel connected this very big dot by reporting that Chad forced Exxon to the pay back taxes they owed, which upset them very much. It was a lot of money.

(19,993 posts)I fear the travel ban against Chad may have actually been a case of abusing the organs of government (similar to Nixon) to inflict punishment on a party involved in a private sector dispute with the SOS's oil company.

(50,278 posts)And it doesn't help that their newly-configured site doesn't seem to work for me. The drop down menu doesn't work and the comment section doesn't work. There's probably a solution, but I don't care enough about the site to fix it.
