A graduate student and teaching instructor at Virginia Tech has been discovered to be an avowed white supremacist, but university officials have yet to take any action to dismiss him.
Mark Neuhoff, who teaches English composition at the university part-time, was discovered in late September to have posted a series of racist comments on social media. I want white supremacy, one post read. Whites must be in control if we are to preserve western culture. Categorically, no other race can do it.
A group calling itself New River Valley Against Fascism obtained screenshots of Neuhoffs social media posts and published them in a September 26 blog post. They include multiple comments about Holocaust denial, as well as one post about how Neuhoff managed to get himself banned from the infamous neo-Nazi site Stormfront for talking about the importance of having free speech in a White Nationalist society.
When asked by the Roanoke Times to explain the posts, Neuhoff said that they were an accurate reflection of my personal beliefs. All of the posts are private for a specific audience who knows and understands who I am, Neuhoff said. What I was doing with my posts was trying to redefine the term that is destructive and shuts someone down white supremacist.

And no, you can't redefine slime ball. It is what it is and you simply are what you are.

(10,418 posts)Of course, this guy needs to get the hook, but he is really small potatoes compared to what the Koch's have been doing for years. We need to kick those assholes and their money out of our universities.

That's just a little taste of their influence there and a consideration of the kind if influence they want to exert. They are all over business schools in several colleges. Here's a non-partisan look at the Koch's and Soros's contributions to universities.

(65,076 posts)It's academically unsound to deny the Holocaust, therefore this guy has no place in academia. His opinions on white supremacy are just that; opinions. Denial of factual history is not opinion. It's simply wrong and contrary to known facts. He needs to go.

(100,081 posts)That white supremacists have been playing an extremely dangerous game of chicken with free speech. And this douchebag is no different. Their views shouldn't be represented and that's a good thing. But this game they are playing is dangerous and any event where they win, we all lose.

(65,076 posts). . .doesn't protect someone in academia who is willfully denying factual history. That just makes them incapable of discerning fact from opinion. Not exactly one of the characteristics pursued in the teaching profession.
