When it comes to Kelly's treatment of Rep. Wilson, I can't help but think about Shirley Sherrod.

If you remember back in 2010, the walking shitstain that was Andrew Breitbart (currently worm food) posted portions of a speech by Shirley Sherrod, an African American U.S. Department of Agriculture state director where they claimed she bragged about denying applications for assistance to farmers because the applicants were white.

There was an outrage and in a spontaneous knee-jerk reaction, Sherrod was fired from her post.

In reality, after the story broke and after Sherrod had already been fired, the full speech was released and it turned out what Breitbart claimed was a racist screed was actually an uplifting speech about how Sherrod was able to put a prior family tragedy where her father was murdered and overcame such prejudices in doing her job. The farmer who Breitbart claimed Sherrod discriminated against spoke up and defended her and said she never treated him in such a manner.

I'm not someone who sees race and gender in every single thing in politics, but with that being said, there does seem to be a tendency for rabid conservatives to single out and target prominent black women in particular. You see it with Sherrod, you see it with Representative Wilson, and you see that Rep. Maxine Waters is oddly singled out in particular by the alt-right (alt-right patron cartoonist Ben Garrison frequently makes Rep. Waters a target)

There is a whole galaxy of people who would never don a hood or use the n-word but somehow are more likely accept and pass on stories, even from the most questionable sources, that reinforce their notions of "how those people are."

new job, which she ultimately declined. She sued Breitbart and ended up settling for an undisclosed amount.

It was an appalling incident and shows how willing people are to rush to judgement. Social media and news media are not a court of law!

I’ll never forget how Anita Hill was vilified for testifying against Clarence Thomas.

Rep. Maxine Waters is great, I love how she isn’t afraid to speak out. And Rep. Wilson is right beside her, speaking up for the truth.

Those “uppity” black women.
