There is no situation that they don't bring god into.
The government is not suppose to be in the business of preaching.

(100,081 posts)They are absolutely horrible and serve no purpose other than hate. When mass shootings or tragedies happen, they tell the victims to go fuck themselves, because Jesus. They say LGBT people are God's abomination because Jesus. They say women who are victims of rape or harassment deserved it because, Jesus. Jesus would hate these people! I want no part of this pathetic excuse for religion, and you would have to kill me before I join.

(36,829 posts)Political Christians rather than Christians of faith.
They support Trump who says he is so perfect that he does not need Christ or his forgiveness.
Like today's evangelical/religious right supporters, Trump is a Political Christian, not a Christian of faith.
Evangelicals/religious right are easily able to spin their beliefs for political expediency.
The Donald who does not have to ask Jesus for forgiveness.

(1,257 posts)Just like the Fundamentalist Muslims have, to further their own evil and narrow minded lack of compassion for humanity.
To me, these so called fundamentalist Christians are no different, and I expect acts of domestic terrorism... be it mental cruelty, or any other lack of respect for an individual's right to freedom and life in this country.
In the case of LGBT, I suspect their terrorism could in fact become violent.
I have little hope that anything can fix these sick minds.

(28,270 posts)I believe in strict separation of church and state just like the people that set up this government in the first place.
Government by religion has been and always will be a complete fascist horror show. You either tow the line of the religion in charge or you are an agent of evil and a rebel to 'god' and must be wiped off the face of the earth.
It has been like that in every theocracy in history as far as I know and it will be like that here soon if the religious right/reich is not stopped.

Madison also made a point that any believer of any religion should understand: that the government sanction of a religion was, in essence, a threat to religion. "Who does not see," he wrote, "that the same authority which can establish Christianity, in exclusion of all other Religions, may establish with the same ease any particular sect of Christians, in exclusion of all other Sects?" Madison was writing from his memory of Baptist ministers being arrested in his native Virginia.

(28,270 posts)I think sadly that the vast majority of so-called christian churches in America are nothing but republican political headquarters and scam centers to separate people from their money for "Jesus". IOW the local preacher building his fabulous mansion on the hill and private jet kinda "Jesus" of course.
I think they should be taxed to the max or get out of partisan politics.
This country was set up by a bunch of non-Christians and it was made clear that was their intention. All of this 'the USA is a christian nation' is a right wing republican lie.
Jesus said My kingdom is not of this world and I believe him over Pat Robinson and all the other fake Christians that back Trump.

(36,829 posts)Some of our 'Christians' say they want America to be a Christian run country.
Which version of Christianity?
What will they say/do when it is not their version of Christianity in charge?
Many Catholics/Protestants feel that the other is not a true Christian.
Christians in Ireland fought each other using terrorism.
We already have radical Christian terrorists in America.
A theocracy will not change that.

(49,533 posts)Calling them "fake" doesn't do a thing. They think you're fake too. Do you follow EVERYTHING in the bible, or do you reject some of it like they do?
SamKnause
(13,108 posts)I recognize hypocrisy when I see it in action.
That is why I referred to them as fake.
I don't refer to my 93 year old mother that way, because I don't see that kind of behavior coming from her.
trotsky
(49,533 posts)But they're still real Christians. There are quite a few things in the bible that conservative Christians ignore, or rationalize away. There are also quite a few things that liberal Christians ignore, or rationalize away. No one follows the bible 100%, do they?
SamKnause
(13,108 posts)I think that would be impossible.
It seems today many don't even try.
They just state as fact they are Christian, as if their actions carry no weight.
They have flipped the script on what being a Christian is.
They are hateful and arrogant in their blatant hypocrisy.
trotsky
(49,533 posts)Exactly who "flipped the script" is a matter of perspective, is it not?
Right-wing Christians think liberal Christians are incredible hypocrites because they don't support the so-called "right to life". From their perspective, it's liberals who are "hateful and arrogant in their blatant hypocrisy."
SamKnause
(13,108 posts)I don't see liberal Christians calling for gays to be killed, those with HIV to be quarantined,
blaming natural disasters on gays and abortions, trying to outlaw birth control, supporting Nazis,
denigrating the poor, etc.
Trump and his supporters seem to have started a new sect of Christians.
Lying Christians.
Even their political agendas are based on lies.
trotsky
(49,533 posts)liberal Christians calling for the world to accept sin, to allow sex outside marriage, to allow the "abomination" of homosexuality, allow the murder of unborn babies, to mandate government steal from people to give money to others when they think churches would do a better job of using donations as Jesus taught, etc. (Note, I don't believe any of this shit, I'm just describing their point of view.)
Trump and his supporters just have a different perspective on Christianity.
It really does no good for both "sides" to simply scream that the others are "fake Christians."
SamKnause
(13,108 posts)Calling them out is better then pulling my hair out.
Do you truly believe that Trump is a Christian ???
Any kind of Christian ???
Different perspective ???
I am not buying the con mans lies.
trotsky
(49,533 posts)That's really the only place ANYONE is truly a Christian, because there will always be someone else who thinks that person isn't one.
The other side of this is really dark, too. What you're saying is that bad people can never be Christians. They must be something else (non-believers, one assumes), because Christians are always good people. You don't believe that, do you?
SamKnause
(13,108 posts)I don't believe the lying pussy grabber believes he is a Christian.
He is an opportunist.
He always has been, he always will be an opportunist.
He is pretending to be religious because he has the support of right wing Christians.
He does what will benefit Donald Trump.
Aren't Christians suppose to be good people ???
If not, is their religion for bad people ???
trotsky
(49,533 posts)Donny can be both an opportunist AND a Christian.
I have no idea if he is, but I also am in no position to say he's not. And neither are you, if you're honest. He might not be a Christian according to your chosen definition of the term, but there are just about as many definitions of the word Christian as there are Christians.
How about we just say he's a horrible human being no matter what he believes?
SamKnause
(13,108 posts)I agree with that statement.
