Donald Trump doesnt know how to be president. He isnt a reader of the presidency. Hes never held office. Theres little reason to believe he knows how to do this.
The next president needs you. This is our country. Help him.
Peggy Noonan, November 12, 2016. Wall Street Journal. It was pathetic.

(44,131 posts)Remember when she only saw Romney signs in her swanky neighborhood and thought it meant Obama would lose in 2012?
For what it is worth she did write an brutal editorial not long ago slamming Trump. Probably sobered up

(22,037 posts)In the past year, I've traveled to Europe three times and met with a large number of business people as well as people I met on my journeys. Nearly every one of them has been incredulous that Trump was elected and what it says about the voters in the U.S. When asked my opinion, I truly could not offer any reasons that we've come to this embarrassing and dangerous state.
Upon reflection, I could have said that the political pendulum's swings seem to be getting wider and wider. Consider the Right-Left electoral results in the last 40 years: Carter to Reagan/Bush to Clinton to W to Obama to Trump. It nearly gave me whiplash to type that trajectory! Regardless, our government was designed to function with compromise. Today's polarized and weaponized political parties can't allow compromise in their zero-sum positions.
Peggy Noonan's pathetic column is insignificant compared to what has happened to the United States. While Trump/Pence et al need to be removed from their offices, the underlying problems of our society won't be solved by a change of our representative government.

(24,128 posts)Trump represents some disgusting elements in U.S. culture now. I teach young people of various countries/cultures, and their reaction is understandable. I was teaching some of them when the results of the last presidential election came in.
You have misspelled Pence's name, but please let it stand.

(22,037 posts)It's very informative to hear what people from other countries and cultures have to say about the United States. I've always found their comments instructive.
Have a good week, janx.

(3,335 posts)incapable of leading this nation. At least that's what I have interpreted from her comments as she is a regular contributer on Morning Joe. Not on a daily basis, but on a regular basis and she's no longer under the illusion that this man can be helped with a little help from the GOP.

(22,037 posts)Her presence on "Morning Joe" doesn't increase her credibility, as if that show has any credibility to grant.
I can't and don't watch those programs either.

(3,335 posts)She doesn't consider him to be a Conservative member of the GOP and is no longer under any delusions that he can lead the GOP party with the help of his Generals.
