So the story about the FBI telling Manafort he was going to be indicted makes sense now.

I think they told him that what we saw today was inevitable. They were not going to back down on these tax charges.

However, I think the missing part of the conversation was there was an invitation to talk about what he knows on Russia and Trump, and if so, they'd give him some leniency on the sentence on the tax charge for his cooperation.

It's the only logical reason why they would tell him in advance he'd be indicted on anything.

They tell you when the indictment is handed down. It is not made public for at least 24 to 48 hours, elehhhhna Oct 2017 #1
Yes, but they allegedly told Manafort several months ago. nt Tommy_Carcetti Oct 2017 #2
How could they tell him months ago he'd be indicted if the indictment was only handed down Friday? onenote Oct 2017 #3
Because they already had enough evidence marylandblue Oct 2017 #5

But you need to confirm and double check before you actually indict, so it takes some time.

They probably asked him about all the money transfers, even if to just confirm what they knew, or catch him i lying too. Since they found the money, he knew he was caught.
