Mueller has the entire Repuiblican Party in Check right now - fearing Checkmate

None of them (at least those of them who aren't so far up Trump's rear end by now that they have no option left other than to keep digging) can afford to be dismissive of Mueller's probe anymore. Not after learning that he already kept one guilty plea secret for three months. They know that they do not know what Mueller already does know. Every statement they make now that might seem dismissive of the Special Counsel and this investigation could be thrown in their face withing hours after the next shoe drops. For all they know that shoe is already in transit toward the floor.

Republicans can't say that there's no real evidence of collusion, They can't say that Mueller needs to wrap this up. They can't say that there is no "there" there, because for all they know it is already laid out in stunning detail in another sealed indictment or an already negotiated plea bargains. Republicans don't know who is frantically on the phone to Mueller's team this very second, begging to flip for the prosecution. They don't know what incriminating evidence has already been caught on wire. They are operating in the blind, fearing the very worse.

If they go out on a limb for Trump now they know that Mueller may already have the chain saw fired up that Democrats will use cut them off in next Fall's elections. Every time a Republican speaks to the press now they know. in the immortal words of the Miranda ruling, that any words they say can be used against them.

The paranoia will sink into their deep dark souls.

And then they will wonder how many booby-traps Mueller has set up. What flood of data will suddenly emerge if Mueller is fired? How many of them will find their mistresses, checks from oligarchs, and secret meetings exposed?

This is an epic example of "strategic silence". It took three months to find out that Papadopoulos was secretly arrested and then turned into a witness for the State. Republicans are free to imagine now who might have been similarly secretly arrested, tow months ago, one month ago, or one week ago.

They are living in a Halloween scare movie. They might as well have just been told: "the calls are coming from somewhere in the house"

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the last year it’s that Trump is always playing 4D chess. Bannon has never done anything that made me think he was stupid.

Mueller, instead of bringing in republicans, and conservatives, and ANY pro Trump guys, he brings in junk yard dog liberal, Clinton loving attorneys.

Sessions has no influence.
AND THEN IN THE END THEY FIND NOTHING?!!!!!!!NADA!
Looks to me that this is another example of Trump playing 3D chess. He knew all along that they’d find nothing to stick on him.
His poll numbers go up, and the press now is lost without a major expectation.

One very pleasant surprise about our President is how smart he really is. He has done some things since the election that seemed (at the time) silly/stupid/impulsive but have actually been brilliant tactical moves. I knew he would be pro business, anti regulation and pro secure borders but I didn’t expect his chess game to be as sophisticated as it is. I am really impressed.
