If you do get scammed (shipping reported but no tracking and the latest expected delivery data has already passed) CALL Amazon to make the claim. Otherwise you will be waiting for weeks. Can't find the number in their "help" maze, google. It is there. AMAZON WILL refund you, but NOT AUTOMATICALLY. EVEN AFTER they've already identified the seller as a scammer.

"its been shipped to an Amazon warehouse and checked beforehand. If anything goes wrong with this item (which can still happen), Amazon will generally be very quick to resolve the issue."
I can tell you that it isn't checked by Amazon. They may resolve the issue but the items arrive at a fulfillment center, get offloaded and individual items are then stowed in the warehouse (using a system of robotic bins ) and may be visually inspected for breakage... but that's it.
