(86,005 posts)...but you know well her money raised was for ANY Democratic candidate, where Sanders' was for handpicked few who were running at the time, not through the Democratic National Committee which was engaged in electing Dems nationally.

(9,661 posts)I think it is important that democrats be accurate
honestly I don't know how the entire fundraising thing works...I thought I read yesterday that the dnc is about presidential candidates and some other alphabet agency was tasked with congressional peops
I thought the 1% hc gave the states was for getting out the vote not for candidates(altho of course that would help entire ticket)
that we have to find peops that can write a check for 325 grand to fund dem campaigns makes me sad
the one thing I am sure of is we should never again give the repubs a 2 month head start debating

(53,072 posts)That is how candidates win. Those who devote the their fundraising haul to TV ads lose. Candidates have to get supporters to the polls because votes are what matters.
If you want to see campaign finance law changed, rather than used as an cudgel and excuse to defeat Democrats, you could try to convince people, including Sanders supporters, it matters. Of course with Clintons defeat weve seen legal reform abandoned entirely as an issue.

"Bernie Sanders rails against big money in politics, but has consistently helped and benefited from the Democratic Party fundraising apparatus.
Sanders was listed as a co-host at a major Democratic fundraiser in each year between 2011 and 2015."
