When she turned around she was stunned to discover her Border collie puppy, Rocky, had proudly led nine sheep into her house.
The seven-month-old sheepdog-in-training had taken advantage of an open gate to usher the sheep through into the Edwards home in Devon via the back door.
Mrs Edwards, 40, said: I thought it was funny at the time, but then there was quite a lot of wee, poo and mud everywhere. It took me a little while to clean it all up.
My son and husband had gone out into the field, and the gate was left open. Rocky got them out and led them to the house.
I was in the kitchen and heard a noise. I turned around and the sheep were just standing there. There were about nine of them.

(16,296 posts)A large , rural family was having a reunion with many people, many relatives from here and there. As the evening went on, the people realized they were being herded into a tight group by the families three sheep dogs.

(32,822 posts)When we go to the dog park he tries to herd the other dogs. It doesnt go well.
One time a bunch of owners were standing around chatting and their dogs were doing their thing. Two males started ganging up on a female and she was growling and starting to retaliate. Were talking big dogs here. I said, Bear, break it up. He charged right into the melee of dogs twice his size, barking his head off. The other dogs stopped what they were doing to stare at him going giving the various owners time to grab their dogs, then call Bear a good dog.

(90,842 posts)Dylan was adorable as a pet, but the full name of the breed really is Shetland Sheep Dog. Somewhere in his overbred DNA he had the instinct. One time I let the two cats in the front door and saw an odd behavior from him: he was bumping their flanks with his long nose as they walked along, ignoring him. Suddenly I got it: he was trying to herd cats.

(28,086 posts)figure out the old Golden Retriever was blind he took to trying to "guide" him - much to the annoyance of the old dog.
In his spare time the pup would took to "herding" my youngest nephew, who was about 12 at the time.

(153,208 posts)at a certain playground, a nearby retired farmer's border collie would sneak over and herd us kids into a compact group - we had to scream for the guy to come and get his daft dog

(19,974 posts)[Dougal repeating speculation about the Beast]:
Father Dougal: They say it's as big as four cats and it's got a retractable leg so's it can leap up at you better. And you know what, Ted, it lights up at night and it's got four ears, two of them are for listening and the other two are kind of back-up ears. Its claws are as big as cups and for some reason, it's got a tremendous fear of stamps! Mrs Doyle was telling me that it's got magnets on its tail, so's if you're made out of metal it can attach itself to you and instead of a mouth, it's got four arses!"
[Ted being philosophical]:
Alan: Should I call the police, Father?
Father Ted: No. He's lost the trust of his sheep. That's punishment enough for a farmer who deals primarily...with sheep.
