(22,976 posts)If the clock flips back an hour at 2:00AM, then could the bars stay open another hour, until the "second" 2:00AM?

(47,552 posts)They said they could not arrest us if we bought or sold beer before the "second" 2am.
(They also warned us that the fact that we were calling them at a quarter to two to see if we had an extra hour to get beer was not a point in our favor on whether or not we should be out buying any more beer that night.)
EDIT: A little more to the story. We were at a bar that was about to close, and we had just failed at trying to convince the bartender to stay open another hour. So we were calling the cops, from a bar, at a quarter to two in the AM, to see if we could head over to the liquor store to buy beer. They said basically, "Yeah, but don't."

(25,857 posts)I just think it should start a month later and end a month earlier than it does.
Alas, no one puts me in charge of these things.

(17,177 posts)But unlike "Groundhog Day", you only get ONE chance to do it right this time.
I usually spend the evening watching the computer's clock roll over from 1:59 to 1:00. I'm easily entertained.

(2,560 posts)Australia can't even agree with itself. South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania observe it, the rest don't.

(23,340 posts)Germany, and Brazil. All had DST-style shifts in summer. They had the nerve to switch on different days than the USA, making things tough to coordinate. And Brazil seemed to enjoy WINTER daylight time, most of it being south of the equator, or some-such lame excuse.
I like it. But, I would be happy with year-round "daylight" time, get rid of standard time.
