Iowa football wave to children's hospital

geez that just breaks me up every time I see it.

"The greatest tradition in college football" the sportscasters call it. And it is now 2 months old.

We saw Urban Meyers go to the middle of the field today and wave. IIRC so did James Franklin and PJ Fleck.

Shoot I even have a little choke in my throat as I write this.

with two degrees from the University of Iowa, I am so proud of this new tradition and the attention it draws to the brave kids fighting serious illness.

I am not into college football, but anything that gives joy to the children is great for me. I remember walking with my five year old daughter to see the helicopter when she was in the hospital and just got out of surgery. That helped her. I hope this helps these kids. I was shocked the last time I was back on campus to see how the hospital was arranged in relation to the stadium. It is such a great idea.

Love this tradition! I have followed this closely and have seen so many stories related to it, but get choked up every time I see a new one. What a great idea to build the Children's Hospital to enable the kids to see into the stadium and how great to have the crowd wave their support to these kids!! Go Hawks!!!

PJ Fleck lost a young baby, so I am sure it was personal for him, too.

Not sure why something like this wasn't thought of before. My father got one of his degress from Iowa.

I am not that familiar with their field, but this seems like a recent addition.

they were placed a good distance from each other with some very lovely green space in between.

I don't think anyone ever anticipated the hospital getting as large as it is.
There has been speculation for decades that the stadium will eventually be moved someplace closer to the interstate for easier access and parking. Then the hospital can continue its expansion.

This was a brilliant idea by the planners of the new children's wing of the hospital. I wish it had been there when my niece was spending a bunch of time there. She is a HUGE Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Let's not forget that THESE are the kind of kids that Donald Trump steals money from, too.
