I fear we are in for an unending nightmare. Trump can spout anything and it goes unchallenged in the long run.

we are already in the midst of the unending nightmare.

The challenges will come later, after years of chaos and trying to clean up the mess. I don't think it will be cleaned up in my lifetime.

2. I think it is due to impotence.

There is nothing that the media, or anybody else can do to stop Trump. The congress is the only remedy, and they are firmly in the camp of Trump right now. The media and America are in a state of helplessness. I do hope, somewhere down the line, that the constitution is amended to protect us from this happening ever again. The founders never envisioned a president like this, coupled with a congress unwilling to remove him.
