Just watching Joy Reid from yesterday and the panel was discussing Page and Papadopoulos'...

contacts with Russians and how Mueller seems to be going after these little fish to get trump.

One question never comes up though.

Attorney General Sessions has just about been proven to have committed perjury several times with his multiple denials of any Russian contacts by him or other trump campaign staff, if Sessions is indicted, forced to resign, or is fired by trump for his obvious perjury, wouldn't that open the door for trump to appoint another, more favorable AG who would then take over from Deputy AG Rosenstein from being in charge of Mueller, the special counsel, and since any new AG would not have recused himself from the collusion investigation, why couldn't he/she just do what trump is itching to do but can't without making himself vulnerable to more obstruction of justice charges, not to mention causing a huge public outcry, why couldn't the new AG just fire Mueller and thereby get trump what he wants?

From another angle, doesn't that put us, the Democrats and Senator Al Franken, in a disadvantageous position where it would be best to back off from going after Sessions to step down because of his perjury?

1. I think this is why Mueller

is working with Schneiderman. Trump probably committed multiple money laundering offenses in New York. Do you think that Schneiderman also has sealed indictments ready to go the minute anything happens with Mueller?

2. I agree. If we are smart, we should keep our hands off Sessions till after the indictments are done.

Then throw the book at him.

That may very well be why he has not been named yet. He is the most obvious and the most public in his lies, the one for whom the case is most easily made. But no one is making the case. I am assuming this is why.

4. I hope so. Senator Franken has sent a letter to Beauregard though, demanding answers to his perjury.

5. I think that is fine because it gets the lying out in the open and makes him look ridiculous. And

we know that neither Republican led investigating committee will do anything about it, so it just keeps putting their corruption on the news over and over, which is a very good thing.

And then there's Mueller who so far has kept hands off. I think he's fully aware that Jeff Sessions is his guarantee of employment.

6. Technically, Mueller can only be fired

for cause, not on the whim or personal preference of der Fluegelhenie. Technically. Also too: a new AG would have to be approved by the Senate and it would only take a couple of R defections to prevent a minion from taking that job. McCain (who is out of fucks to give), Corker (ditto), maybe Flake--none is running for re-election.
I've always thought the only way out of this is through...get to the midterms, retake at least one house and prevent further depredations. A thorough investigation and steady release of info / indictments etc is preferable to a push for an impeachment vote that we would lose (on Sessions or Trump). Let them continue to sweat and flail and fail.

7. Ahhh, yes. Getting approval in the Senate for a new AG could be a problem for trump...

but as far as firing Mueller for cause, that didn't stop trump with Comey.

8. Director of the FBI is appointed by the President

and can be dismissed by him; Special Prosecutor is technically appointed by DC Circuit Court and has a greater measure of independence, hence the requirement "for cause."

but they would still have to get a new minion installed, now with even more evidence of obstruction of justice hanging over them. The longer this goes on, the better for us and the harder it gets to shut it down without being self-evidently "complicit".

Have to agree with Bannon ( ) firing Comey was the worst thing tRump could have done. Firing Mueller would top that...to no purpose, since I bet he and his merry band would just move the whole operation to NY and carry on...without fear of presidential pardons.

14. What is amazing about so many of these criminal violations is that they were done on live TV

And all of us were the witnesses to the crime.

That is SO uncommon, particularly at this level of politics.

What we are enduring is the lag time between the commission of the crime and the dispensation of justice.

Sessions perjured, Trump obstructed, and all of them colluded/conspired.

There are a myriad of other charges, eg., money laundering, tax evasion, that have been the subject of a lot of media investigation and which will likely result in indictments.

There are probably even MORE crimes that Mueller is aware of that we and the media are not.

Hold on to your britches; we're going on a ride, folks.
