WTF?
If he isnt sending out his latest tweet storms, his orange hair is clogging up your Facebook feed or hes mouthing off on TV with yet another nuclear sound bite.
But it turns out "The Donald" hasnt quite reached total saturation point.
According to the latest National Tracking Poll by Politico, 1 per cent of Americans have never heard of the current President of the United States of America.
A further 1 per cent have never heard of Melania or Ivanka, either.

(82 posts)I always thought it was strange that we still put so much money into "awareness" campaigns...like Breast Cancer Awareness.
Is there still some significant portion of the population that isn't aware that breasts can get cancer? These are probably the same people that don't know who the President is.
"Breast Cancer Awareness" funds would be SO much better spent paying for rides to chemo, paid days off work, child care while bouncing back from chemo, research...etc.
Just my opinion.

(4,448 posts)Keep it (whatever it is) at the top of mind.
Everyone knows what breast cancer is, but advertising (campaigns) keeps it at the top of mind. That way when someone is asked to donate, support or whatever, and they have a choice of activity, they are more likely to choose an activity that supports or funds it.
Take Geico, the insurance company. Everybody knows who they are right? But you still see their advertisements several times a day. It's always semi-fresh in your mind.
This way, on the day, every several years when you think about insurance, you are FAR FAR FAR more likely to request a quote from them, as opposed to mutual-acme-auto-insurance which you are aware of, but haven't seen their ad daily for the last 5 years.

(4,448 posts)I hate advertising in general. SO MUCH money and mind share wasted imo.
But that's the way it works

(4,448 posts)And at least 1% of the population will have never heard of it. Sometimes much much higher.
I bet you if polled everyone and asked what country they were standing in, more than 1% wouldnt know the answer.

Sorry, I've always been suspicious of these polls where a 1-3% 'don't know, aren't sure, have no opinion.'
Really? I'd check for a pulse!

(22,651 posts)IMO, lead exposure is still a huge problem in some areas of USA. Not as bad as the time gasoline was full of lead.

(25,857 posts)My question is, just how did they find those people? I'd suspect they'd be completely off the grid an so not easy to find by conventional polling methods, which generally involve phones.
Never underestimate the ignorance of most people.

They live in a large sized family box of Cocoa Puffs with teeny-tiny Cracker Jack toys and trinkets to keep their minds entertained and occupied.
Ignorance is bliss.... These folks are so unplugged they don't even watch Fox Nuz to keep informed about current events.
Do they vote ?
