Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhy post stories in GD with "BREAKING" in their title subsequently to the same story posted in LBN?
What's that about? Why split up the conversations on the same story?

(63,212 posts)The same is true of eye-catching subject lines for posts that are nothing but "link to tweet," so the poster is using someone else's thoughts to boost their own numbers.
Similarly, I've seen people post whiz-bang subject lines and a very brief excerpt in the message body, along with a link the their own blog.

(63,212 posts)Skinner can knock 40 or 50 thousand off of my total, and it won't make an iota of difference to me.
Some, however, see a high post-count as a sign of credibility, while a low post count can generate suspicion (or at least hesitation before fully crediting the poster's opinion). Some of that is due to fear of bots, I suppose, but we've also had a lot of trolls over the years, and many of these reveal themselves before they get a great many posts.
I would turn the question around: what is the point of double-posting, or of posting messages that are nothing but a link to someone else's tweet, with the poster providing no additional detail or commentary?

I once asked a poster why he didn't include any content indicating what the link led to,
and he accused me of being too lazy to click on the link for the content.

Well, I can't very well see that it's a fucking "link to tweet" until I open that worthless post, now can I?

I'll post something there and it gets no attention. I post it here and it gets 50 replies in 20 minutes.
