and hunting.

Nowadays, it's about arming up to kill people, intimidation, militia maneuvers, hatred, compensating for what a DUer aptly called "microdick" self-esteem issues, and the like.

If it were just 22s, 410s, 12 gauges, we wouldn't have this problem.

clips are much too large. The only semiautomatics were .22 rifles, and shotguns 3 rounds. The famous 6 shooter only had "guess" 6 bullets!!!

We used to have gun racks in our pickups but now days they would get stolen.

Fear drives the sales. Like what happened after 911, a lot of things were changed and some should now.

A farmer has a far greater chance of getting killed by a farm implement than he does getting killed by gun violence.

There was even a clique of "cowboys" who took to putting a 22 cartridge in the little Levis tag on their jean jackets (school said "No" to that eventually). The thing about this school that I recall is the constant fighting after classes. For weeks after classes began, there would be fights at the Gofer Foods convenience store next door. These were big boys, farm boys who could bench 300 lbs without thinking about it. The fights were bloody. The fights were serious.

BUT NO ONE EVER THOUGH TO BRING A GUN!!!!!

That was in the late 80s, so unless things have changed drastically and rural areas have suddenly adopted new "traditions" I call bullshit on this excuse.

While my parents didn’t own any, my other relatives had a lot of them and we were always visiting them.
They were mostly rifles and shotguns. I know there were handguns but nobody was waving them around or wearing them. The guns were not locked up but they were kept in one area and usually racked. We never thought of touching one without permission.

The people I knew would take a gun away from you if you were mishandling it and you got hell and a lesson about how to treat it. They were not ‘big toys for boys.’ They were used for hunting game and varmints.

The women in both families were the best shots by far.

That is the tradition I know. Today, people are leery of hunting even on their own land. People come and go with no regard for posting of signs. They also will shoot at anything that moves and think blaze orange is a color of animal fur. That is what needs to be addressed. The idea that guns should be around 24/7 with zero knowledge of how they should be treated. They are literally life and death. They are treated like toys.

The majority voted for tRump, the majority of them own guns, as a nation we have a real problem on our hands. We need to get the guns out of these areas, it's going to be a nasty job but sooner or later we're going to have to face the music and get the job done.

Obviously I did not vote for Trump. Am I just half crazy?

Read our platform. The Democratic Party supports the right to own firearms with reasonable restrictions. If you do not you are not in agreement with the Democratic Party.

Repeal the second amendment. That is how you ban guns. Good luck.

is a completely normal thing. But to people like me it just seems like insanity. I didn't grow up with it, I don't know any gun owners (that I am aware of) and I have somehow managed to get through life just fine without one. I will never get it. There are too many guns in this country and it is WAY too easy to get them. This has got to stop.

could say the same about abortion. Because no matter how people try to sugar-coat it, abortion results ending something that has the potential to be a human life.

... a set of answers to which we have forgotten the questions.

I immediately added, "and which may no longer be necessary, relevant, or even meaningful."

In pioneer days, people hunted to put meat on the table. Nowadays, most hunt for "sport" (they say). Why keep this tradition going when it no longer serves much purpose, and why indulge gun ownership to such an extreme degree, when such indulgence brings with it so much danger for the rest of society ?

And I'm really not willingly siding is there is one hell of a lot more guns now and powerful and can shoot bullets until the barrel is too hot to touch. These people are not only in America but all the lawless countries.

I farmed, I still own guns but none are the new type with all the high capacity clips. They either hold one, 2 or 3 shells.

What I have learned in my old age is that if you miss the first time, you won't hit the target with the second shot.

Anyway, I really don't need them anymore.

I think doing thing to make people feel more safe, like a very quick responding 911. A plan to help people who live in the country feel safe would go a long way.

I noticed on the Google map that there are large areas north of the community that has large housing developments but I feel the decline in rural people is still going to decline.

We used to have to sign for ammunition and maybe that wouldn't be a bad idea. Who needs $1,000 worth of ammunition.
