It's because we do. We would rather talk about the communication skills of the head of the DNC than what the party is doing, will do and has done. We would spend inordinate time on whether Clinton or Sanders tanked each other (I did that) or what their foibles are than what they brought to the table and still do. We are not unified. Its not the party leaderships fault, there are posts after posts here that disprove that. We are the enemy of perfect. The Republicans are not. Its in the nature of Democrats to find the best for everybody. We just have to remember that there really is no best, but second best is the Democratic party and has been for a long time. Anyone pushing otherwise is the worst option possible.

(49,005 posts)There might be points in your analysis, but they would need to be posted in support of a proposition about that Democratic Party that, frankly, does not suck.
After all, the Democratic Party represents the majority of voters and they voted for Clinton. That is not "sucking". Nor is the fact that the Democratic Party would be more heavily represented at all levels of government except for the gerrymandering, collusion, and lying against it.

(7,318 posts)All of this is of course opinion and I respect yours while understanding that mine had nuance that goes both ways. I love the Democratic party and it is awesome, but it does suck in some ways as evidenced by recent news and election results. Some our fault some not. Its taken Trump to fragment the Republican party a little, it takes way less than that to fragment us. As I said, it is in our nature to be fragmented, we are not lockstep people, but, and this is important, we have to remember that the Democratic party is the second best party only because there can be no first, not in the hearts of men and women.

(86 posts)2018 and 2020 are our greatest chances to start to turn America into a single-party (Democrats) country, totally wiping out the Republicans and forcing them to restructure into something better for the American people. They are laid bare as corrupt, immoral and treasonous.

(4,516 posts)The Dem party does not suck. Every election cycle it is the same message from the same people. Dems suck, Dems do not vote, Dems do not stand for anything, Dems are divided, on and on.
You are not doing us any favors, you should be ignored while we work to get out the vote

(11,738 posts)There are certainly things that we can do better, but saying we suck is simplistic. We are a large coalition party with many often conflicting constituency groups. Our message is typically more difficult to deliver because we try to balance individual liberty with collectivism and try to push a message of maturity, self control, and caring about others. We do bicker and we nitpick. We can be annoying, but we do not suck. We are just complex and defy simplistic definition.
